MCCQE PART 1 PSYCH REVIEW

As of 2020, the MCCQE Part 1 is composed of a MCQ section (4 hours for 210 questions) and Clinical Decision Making (CDM) section (3.5 hours for 38 cases with 60-70 questions total).  Traditionally, 1/6 of the exam is dedicated to Psychiatry (remaining 5 being Internal Medicine; Obstetrics/Gynecology; Pediatrics; Population Health, Ethical, Legal, and Organizational aspects of Medicine; and Surgery), ie roughly 35 questions. A pass score on MCCQE Part 1 is a total score (MCQ + CDM) of 226/400.  Please find below a mock timed MCQ exam that focuses only on Psychiatry. Feel free to repeat this exam as questions are randomly drawn from a larger question bank and are continuously added/updated.

For additional questions, see “Bow Valley College IMG MCCQE Part 1 Review Course Pre-tests” (below) and “University of Calgary Resident-Led Wed Noon Hour Teaching Pre-tests” (under “Clerkship” Section). Other MCCQE exam banks are also helpful (e.g. UWorld’s USMLE Step 2 CK is roughly equivalent, if not historically a bit harder, than Canada’s MCCQE Part 1 exam).
